The Information Technology (I.T.) department at MVRDA is responsible for administering the overall operation of networks to connect and provide service to all areas of the organization. This is accomplished by:
-
Designing, installing and maintaining MVRDA’s network of LANs, WANs and major communications equipment, such as Enterasys switches, Cisco routers and PIX firewalls.

Installing and maintaining MVRDA’s servers, workstations and associated operating systems, databases and applications.

Administering and monitoring performance of MS Windows Active Directory, MS Exchange Server, MS Internet Information Server, and Microsoft SQL databases and makes necessary upgrades.

Diagnosing problems, purchasing replacement parts and replacing defective parts.
-
Providing end-user and staff training, support and assistance on various types of hardware, software and network software.









Network Systems Administrator
The Network Systems Administrator is in charge of the I.T. Department and performs the administrative functions in order to ensure optimum operation of the agency's networks. Essential job functions include:

Administers contracts for service maintenance and access to data communications external to the MVRDA network.

Assists the Executive Director to develop request for proposals (RFPs) for all equipment and services utilized for the MVRDA networking system.

Develops and maintains the section’s annual budget in accordance with federal, state and local policies/procedures.

Maintains records and reports on network problems for maintenance review and planning future upgrades.

Provides special and recurring activity and performance reports.
-
Establishes plans for preventive maintenance and use of equipment.
I.T. Technician
The I.T. Technician helps maintain and support Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority (MVRDA) computers, printers and peripheral equipment; provides customer assistance services and basic network support functions. Essential job functions include:

Responds to the technical support needs and inquiries of system users.

Maintains and updates computer systems; installs software upgrades, enhancements and revised functions; installs and relocates computers and peripheral hardware as directed.

Configures, installs and upgrades user computers, tablets and peripherals; sanitizes and redeploys computers as needed.

Creates and maintains user accounts and system access for e-mail and file shares.
-
Performs basic network trouble-shooting to diagnose connectivity and security problems.

Provides end-user and staff training, support and assistance on various types of hardware and software as required.
